Dianne Shoreys, that sounds easier said than done. The reason they move here is because their governments are corrupted and they have no money or land to survive on. I know from experience. People don't choose to be poor. It's the rich mans fault for what they have to go through. How about you try and move to another country and see what it's like to have no documents, money, etc. but a place where you know you have a job...even if it's only for a while or worse...you get caught. Some of the people who move here leave their families behind to gain money and then move back once they have enough to at least buy their own land and food to grow. You should start opening your eyes and see what the Bullies do to poor nations. ex Haiti. The reason that country is so poor is because the USA does NOT allow it to trade with other countries or vice versa. God bless

Andy, the ancestors of the native people of Mexico and of the South Western U.S. have inhabited this land for more than ten thousand years. Your ancestors and mine, both of European heritage I assume, were the original invaders of their country. The inequities which still exist for the native people of the Americas, particularly in countries like Mexico, are what causes the problems which they face. If the U.S. wants to stem the flow of "illegal" immigration we should first address the causes, principally the political corruption which has always existed in Mexico. In stead of allowing U.S. companies to further exploit the poor people of Mexico through NAFTA and other inequitable programs which exist between them Mexico and the U.S., we should look for ways to create better working and living conditions for them in their own country. It should be obvious to all that the U.S. gvernment has been taken over by big business and wealthy individuals who are ready and willing to exploit everyone, including U.S. citizens, to gain financial advantages. Until we reclaim our democratic process, "of the people, by the people and for the people", we're all in trouble.

This really isn't a fair assessment of one's skills simply because some of the words are not the same in all Spanish-speaking countries, or even in different areas of the same country. I was marked as being incorrect a couple of times when I was correct according to where I learned the words. All translations should be included, not just one, in order to make the test fair to everyone. Just a thought.

One more thing: I feel blessed to have know more than 1 language. I also was blessed to learn Italian and French and I hope to travel to other parts of the world when I can LOL. The reason most people (Europe, Asia, etc) don't like Americans is because they are stereotyped as racists, rude, only knowing 1 language, and some are known for saying (when they're angry) "I'M AN AMERICAN!" LOL. Respect and love one another, guys. :) Remember: treat others the way you would like to be treated!

Hispanic's are not the only illegal aliens in the U.S.; but one ethnic group among the others. There are also Africans, Asians, Europeans, etc.

Though, I think it's absolutely revolting to see parents walking around a store and asking their 3 year old what things are and how much things are. I mean, you can't even learn basic numbers 1-10 in English? I knew 1-10 in spanish was before I could properly speak my own language. I'm a cashier in a small local store, and I can't count how many spanish people come through needing their little kids to tell them that their total is "5.07" or that they want a package of a chocolate there at the register. And I could go on... I have to know basic spanish, but they don't need to know some basic English. Does anyone else think that's a bit wrong in the least?

In case you all didn't notice it wasn't asking specific questions about the picture. Those pictures were there to throw you off. It was testing your comprehensive reading skills. And I would just like to say thank you to MT because that is exactly what is wrong with this country. In all of the world people speak the languages of the surrounding countries. A Frenchman would never dream of not at least knowing the basics of Spanish, Italian, and german. Even the majority of Canadians speak at least two other languages. But in a country where people don't even take the time to research their own culture or heritage how foolish of us to expect that Americans would know anything about anyone else's culture.
